Why overlaps matter. If you freelanced while employed, adding both periods would inflate your total. Employers check dates, so the honest figure is the safer one.

"Sales went from 80 to 120" is harder to picture than "sales up 50%". Both are true; the second lands.

Use figures you can back up. If the interviewer asks how you measured it, "I don't remember" is a worse answer than a smaller honest number.
