Choosing a template by country
United States and Canada: one page, no photo, no date of birth or personal details, achievements first. UK, Ireland and Australia: no photo, a personal statement and key skills near the top, two pages is fine. Gulf and continental Europe: a photo and a personal-details block (nationality, visa status, languages) are expected. South Asia and the Middle East: any of the general layouts; add a photo and personal details if the employer asks.
Choosing a layout
Classic layouts keep everything in one column — the safest choice for large companies and anywhere applicant-tracking software is likely. Sidebar layouts put contact details and skills beside the main content, which works well when you have several roles to show. Modern layouts have a bold header and a photo slot, and are the closest to what Gulf recruiters expect.
